1 Timothy 2:1-3
¹First
of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and thanksgivings should be made for
everyone, ²for kings and
all who are in high positions, so that we may lead a quiet
and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity.
³This is right and is
acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.

We ask you Lord that every
person and group listed above will be filled with the
knowledge of Your Will in all spiritual wisdom and
understanding.
Almighty God; We make our earnest prayer
that Thou wilt keep the United States in They holy
protection; that Thou wilt incline the hearts of the
citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and
obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection
and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of
the United States at large. And finally that Thou wilt most
graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to
love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity,
humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the
characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed
religion, and without a humble imitation of whose example in
these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant
our supplication, we beseech Thee, through Jesus Christ our
Lord. Amen. --- George Washington
A Prayer for Our
Nation by Billy Graham
'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to
seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says,
'Woe to thosewho call evil good,' but that is exactly what
we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and
reversed our values.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We
have rewarded
laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn
and called it
choice. We have shot abortionists and called it
justifiable. We have
neglected to discipline our children and called it building
self esteem. We
have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted
our neighbor's
possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and
called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the
time-honored values of our forefathers and called it
enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts
today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen!'
