Mississippi Annual Conference UMC Shared Ministry- Mission Items 

Community Centers, helps 7 community centers around the state minister to children, youth and adults.  The centers serve the poor and disadvantaged by offering affordable childcare and after school programs, training and educational opportunities, abuse prevention and intervention, summer enrichment, feeding ministries, older adult services and other ministries.  The centers are Bethlehem Center, Jackson; Edwards Street Community Center , Hattiesburg; Good Shepherd Center, Vicksburg; Moore Community House, Biloxi; St Andrew’s Mission, McComb; Wesley House, Meridian

Children’s Homes and Choctaw Mission Provides clothing, food , school supplies, medical care and other needs of vulnerable children and youth living in therapeutic group homes.  Also helps with operating expenses of the home as well.  Choctaw Mission provides pastoral leadership,  programming and maintenance for mission facilities in the Choctaw communities of Pearl River, Red Water and BogueChitto.

Camps (Seashore Assembly, Biloxi ; Wesley Pines,Gallman; Gulfside, Waveland & Lake Stevens, Oxford)  Our camps continue to offer wonderful experiences in the Summer as well as retreats throughout the year that shape children youth and adults.

UM Higher Education, these items include the Wesley Foundations and campus ministries throughout the state on 27 university and community college campuses. It also includes the Ministerial Education Fund which helps recruit and educate persons for ordained ministry. This item also includes resource for scholarship on the 2 UM campuses in the state (Millsaps College and Rust College) as well as the Black College Fund and Africa University, the only degree granting UM university on the continent of Africa.

BaddourCenter provides scholarships that help defray cost for mildly retarded adult residents who call the Senatobia campus home.

UM Hour assists Mississippi’s unique television and radio ministry in proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ on its weekly programs and through its prayer and serving ministries.

World Service connections  helps undergird a network of missionaries and others who serve in the name of Christ and the UMC around the world.  Helps in Support the work of agencies such as UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), UMVIM( Volunteers in Mission),UMCom( Communications) and others. 

Other Mission offerings may be taken to support special shared ministry items.
